As Mother of the Bride your friend will be seeing many people that she has not seen for a while so we want her looking her very best. 
First of all if your friend has not already done so, tell her to find out what the colour of the bridesmaid dresses are so that she does not clash with the colour. Remind your friend that she will be in the outfit from early in the morning to late at night so ensure that she chooses an outfit that she feel extremely comfortable in and that she can walk and dance in. My advice would be to tell your friend to only purchase items that she can wear again; there is no point in spending all of that money and only getting one wear out of the outfit.
