How to choose swimwear to suits your shape…

It’s time to indulge in all things sun, sea, and swimwear! The secret to choosing good swimwear this summer is drawing the eye to the most flattering parts of your figure; this will help you to feel more comfortable as well as looking your best.

Hourglass

Your shoulders are in line with your hips and you will have a clearly defined waistline.

Swimwear Goal: Opt for a bikini or swimsuit that will maintain the balanced body of an hourglass shape; if you choose to wear a colour on top then also choose colour on the bottom, the same applies to print such as this cute floral print bikini from New Look.

Pear

Your hips will be wider than your shoulders, and you may wear a larger size on bottom than you wear on top.

Swimwear Goal: Draw the eye upwards to create a balanced look by choosing a simple bikini bottom in a plain colour and supportive fabric, and then opt for a fun bikini top that has detail/colour. This will in turn draw the eye away from the bum/tum area. These separates from Dunnes will do just that; the simple black bottoms teamed with either the fun jungle print bikini top or tankini is the perfect pear pairing.

Inverted Triangle

Your upper body will be wider than your lower body, and you may wear a larger size on top than you do on bottom

Swimwear Goal: Draw the eye down to create a balanced body by keeping colour and detail at a minimal at the top half of the body and having all the fun on the bottom half of the body with print, colour and/or detail. Have fun mixing and matching separates such as with this cute classic black textured bandeau bikini top (that has a detachable halter-neck strap) and these super fun monochrome stripe bottoms that will draw the eye down to create an overall body balance.

Apple

Your shoulders and hips are in line and you may have weight surrounding your waist and tummy area. It is similar to the hourglass shape but does not have a well-defined waistline.

Swimwear Goal: Draw the eye away from the tummy area by keeping things simple at the tummy area and opting for supportive fabric for the ultimate sexy Marilyn Monroe look. This flattering swimsuit is designed with a control panel to make tummies look flatter and is available from Marks and Spencer in a variety of colours.

Testimonial:

“I can’t thank you enough for Saturday, I’ve never had such a wonderful shopping experience where I have actually found too many nice clothes and having to turn some down. It was such a change from my normal depressing attempts at shopping where after trying on clothes that don’t suit my shape I leave with nothing. You made everything seem so effortless even though you must have been running a half marathon around the shops and fitting rooms. I have gotten lots of compliments from family and friends about looking so much younger and feel a lot better about myself as a result. I consider myself a yummy mummy in training now J. Just wished I had gotten in touch with you sooner and saved myself all those depressing shopping trips. I have been singing your praises to everyone as you are brilliant!” Lucy, Dublin
